Job Description

Title: Senior Pastor
Job Purpose: to equip the church to implement our Vision and Mission, and strive to meet the spiritual needs of the church.
Position Reports to: the Deacon Committee.
Reporting to This Position: Pastoral Staff.
Skills and Attributes: Seminary training and experience as a Senior Pastor are preferred, loyal, faithful, honest, teachable, humble, approachable, professional.
Responsibilities:

          1. Leadership
            •  Be an active, accountable, contributing member of the Board and membership.
            • Assist the Board and church in setting and achieving the Values, Vision and Mission for Ebenezer Baptist Church.
            • Aid Ministry Leaders in their ministries.
            • Demonstrate an understanding of pastoral leadership in a rural setting.
          2.  Ministry
            • Preach and teach original sermons that are of sound doctrine.
            • Officiate Baptism and Membership Services, Funerals, Weddings, and Dedications.\
            • Train and equip people in the church for leadership and service.
            • Build relationships with people in the church.
            • Attend SBA and NABC events.
            • Be available and open to counselling those who reach out for help and be able to refer individuals to professional help as needed.
            • Handle sensitive and/or confidential situations with respect and confidentiality.
            • Visit the sick, shut-ins, those in nursing facilities, and others.
            • Comfort those who are grieving.
            • Confront sin, execute church discipline, and resolve conflict as necessary.
          3. In the Community
            • Develop and maintain a visible presence within the community by attending activities beyond the church.
          4. Administrative
            • Maintain a weekly activity log that will be available for review by the Deacons upon request.
            • Prepare and present written reports at quarterly Board Meetings and the Annual Meeting.
            • Be a member of the Nominating Committee.
          5. Personal
            • Abide by the conduct of the Code of Ministerial Ethics outlined by the NABC.
            • Lead with a passion to love and disciple others.
            • Maintain a family life that honors God and a lifestyle that cares for all aspects of personal health.

Accountability:

          • The Senior Pastor is accountable first and foremost to God and His Word; secondly to the Deacon Committee and membership of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
          • Pastoral job will be evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor, Deacon Committee, and the Board.
