Senior Pastor-Calvary Baptist Church

Our next pastor must be responsible for the biblical and spiritual obligations as outlined in 1 Peter 5:1-4, 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 along with being a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). He will be the primary preacher and teacher in all church services giving due time, thought, prayer, and study to the Word of God in preparation for the messages. He will conduct and oversee the visitation of church members, visitors, the sick and shut-in, and any others he deems necessary. He shall continue to develop as a man of prayer.

Requirements and Qualifications

Preaching and Teaching:

  • Be the primary preacher in Sunday services giving due time, thought, prayer, and study to the word of God in preparation for the messages.
  • Schedule guest preachers as required in cooperation with the deacons.
  • Oversee the teaching of God’s Word in the church programs and studies, participating as appropriate with the various groups, classes, and age groups.
  • Conduct and oversee the ordinances of baptism and communion.

Spiritual Care:

  • Oversee and participate in the visitation of the church members, visitors to the church services, the sick, the shut-ins, and others in the community as opportunities arise.
  • Pray for the church family and ministries, as well as those we are trying to reach.
  • Lead the church family in times of prayer and in teaching them the priority and practice of prayer.
  • Provide or refer spiritual counsel to those in need of direction and assistance.
  • Provide support for the grieving, including the leading of funeral services.
  • Provide marriage preparation and wedding services for church members and others in keeping with our stated policies.


  • Work with the deacons and church board in the oversight of the church ministries and regular review of church policies.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of future leaders.
  • Give leadership in the search for and hiring of additional staff as required.
  • Serve as non-voting ex-officio member of all boards and committees and shall be a full member of the outreach committee and Christian education board.

Other Duties:

  • Support and participate in the ministries of our North American Baptist Conference and North Central Association.
  • Involve the church family in these NAB and NCA ministries whenever possible and practical.
  • Participate in the local ministerial association.
  • Continue to engage in personal growth in both spiritual and professional development.
  • Undertake other duties that arise in co-operation with the church board.
  • Be sure that the general direction and tone of our ministry is in keeping with our stated purpose and goals, while protecting the purity of the church both in its teaching and in the lifestyle of its members.

Job Requirements: Possesses a bachelor’s degree, or higher, or received comparable ministerial training from an institution recognized by the Church Board at Calvary Baptist and North American Baptist Conference for its biblical teaching and its stance on social issues as taught by the Word of God.
